I’m a resident training in pediatrics, adult psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry. I am interested in integrating mental healthcare into the primary care setting, the intersection of addiction medicine and adolescent medicine, and psychiatry as it relates to chronic disease.
I have worked with kids in several settings as a coach, tutor, camp counselor and high school teacher, and I’ve always found it incredibly rewarding and joyful. As a high school teacher, I began to think more about the external pressures placed on my students and how their mental health affected their performance in my classroom.
During medical school, I witnessed children and teenagers needing mental healthcare at the primary care pediatrics clinic I frequently rotated through. I also saw that physicians needed help knowing who to refer them to or how to help, as resources were limited. I felt inspired to pursue training in pediatrics and psychiatry to better treat the whole patient. I aim to address kids' physical and mental health in my practice to set them up for success in the future.
I approach patients with honesty and openness. I’m happy to explain little details to patients and always try to do so in a non-confrontational, simply worded way. I talk with patients and families as I would with my friends and family in a way that is easy to understand but still clear and direct. After further psychiatric training, I will be equipped to manage mental health medications and therapy visits.
In the past, I have been involved in research that examined the rates of eating disorder presentations before and after the COVID-19 pandemic. I hope to eventually become involved in research investigating substance use in childhood and adolescence.
I’m honored to have received the Thomas Jefferson University Humanities & Health: Featured Student Artist Award (2020). When I’m not working, I love to go on runs across the bridges of Cincinnati, take photographs, play intramural soccer, read books, watch television, and spend time with friends and family.
