My Biography & Research

Biography

My childhood experiences with a sibling and a good friend who suffered from chronic pediatric illnesses led to my interest in caring for children. While in medical school and pediatric residency, I became interested in pediatric anesthesiology and pain management.

As a pediatric anesthesiologist and pain management specialist, my care philosophy is simple — I believe that all children deserve respect and quality of care that I would want for my own children. I’m also the medical director for the Functional Independence ReSToration (FIRST) Program for the rehabilitation of children disabled by severe chronic pain.

In my research, I am primarily interested in improving pain and functional disability in children.

I enjoy spending my free time with my family and friends, gardening and exploring national parks. I also enjoy hiking, especially along mountain streams, and fly fishing for trout in those mountain streams.
