I’m an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the Division of Neonatology. I consider the families to be part of the care team, and I listen carefully to the parents' observations.
I started in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as a nurse’s aide and progressed into the role of APRN. My mother, as a nurse in the NICU when I was growing up, had a significant influence on my decision to pursue nursing. In 2017, I was recognized for “Best in Nursing” by the American Health Council.
In my practice, I look at the patient as a whole and not concentrate on one system since all of the body’s systems affect each other. When caring for children, the family needs to be cared for as well. I try to empathize and listen to the family's needs and concerns and keep them informed about any changes in their child’s health.
During my free time, I enjoy baking and doing crafts. My family is very important to me, and I look forward to spending time with my children, husband and two dogs.
