I am a nurse practitioner in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). I was inspired to become a nurse practitioner during my time practicing as a neonatal and pediatric flight nurse. I worked closely with neonatal nurse practitioners on transports and admissions of newborns to the NICUs around the Midwest, and I fell in love with the rewards and challenges of this role.
My life is devoted to my practice and to continuing my education. My No.1 priority is to always work towards improving my practice. I always advocate for my patients and put their needs first. My goals are to provide the best care to newborns and always search for best practices and solutions.
I received a travel scholarship from Abbott Nutrition to attend the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) Conference in Honolulu, Hawaii, in April 2021. At this conference, I will be presenting a literature review about the implementation of a Code Alert System for early recognition of therapeutic hypothermia candidates with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy. Upon completion of the conference my work will be published in Neonatal Network.
In my free time I love being outdoors, cooking, spending time with my family and traveling.
