About Me


Maradith Skalak's research interests include neurodevelopmental outcomes and quality improvement. Her current research project involves investigating the use of brain MRI to predict neurodevelopmental impairment in preterm infants. She is also a part of a collaborative quality improvement group working to reduce mortality of extremely low birth weight infants at the University of Cincinnati NICU.

Clinical Interests

Quality improvement and communication in the NICU; reducing mortality of extremely low birth weight infants; improving communication and reducing stress for families and providers in the NICU

Research Interests

Improving prediction of neurodevelopmental impairment in preterm infants; identifying structural MRI markers which can be used to predict motor and cognitive impairment
