As a nurse practitioner, I work in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), where we practice a team-based approach to care. The CICU has a strong group of advanced practice providers committed to providing the safest, evidence-based care for patients and their families.
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to work in medicine. In nursing school, my pediatric clinical rotation was my favorite, and I worked in the cardiology step-down unit. I loved the population and the physical processes associated with congenital heart disease (CHD).
While working in an adult ICU, I realized I loved critical care. The only units hiring new grads at Cincinnati Children’s when I was applying for jobs were the Emergency Department and CICU. The Emergency Department didn’t call me for an interview, so I was ‘stuck’ with the CICU. I’ve never looked back!
In my free time, I love being with my husband, daughter and three dogs. I also like to exercise and travel.
