What Are Beta-Blockers?

The beta-blockers group of medications gets its name from the fact that they block the function of the beta receptors on the blood vessels and heart muscle. They are used for a number of reasons. Some are used for control of high blood pressure, while others are used for the treatment of arrhythmias.
