The 2013 Cincinnati Walks for Kids benefiting Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center has a brand new location this year, but it still supports the same great cause! This year the walk will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden.
More than a fundraising walk, Cincinnati Walks for Kids is a day of family fun and celebration. Beginning with an opening ceremony to honor the patients, families and caregivers of the medical center, the walk will be an easy half-mile stroll through the Zoo.
The Zoo will be closed to the public during the walk, and there will be plenty of free parking and family-friendly activities. Walkers will enjoy complimentary train rides, a health fair, face painting, visits from Zoo animal ambassadors and cheetah shows. There will also be live music by Jetset Getset and all Zoo concessions will be open.
People of all ages can participate in the walk and can register online at cincywalks.org. Registration for the walk is $25 for adults 18 and $5 for children 17 and younger. Each walker will receive an official 2013 Cincinnati Walks for Kids T-shirt, an online fundraising page and exclusive access to the Zoo for the event.
Walk participants will have access to a personal fundraising page where supports can donate online directly to Cincinnati Children’s. Walkers can support the department or division they are most passionate about or elect to support the greatest needs of the medical center. All proceeds from the event help Cincinnati Children’s provide hope and healing to the children and families cared for by the medical center.
Walker Check-In the day of the walk will be held from 3 pm – 4:30 pm on Saturday, Sept. 28, on Dury Ave. by the Zoo. The walk begins at 4:30 pm. Strollers, wagons and wheelchairs are welcome at the walk. With the exception of service dogs, the Zoo does not allow pets on their property.
“As close neighbors and friends with the Zoo, we are excited to share our successes and hope for the future at such a fun, inviting location in our community,” says Kerri Finke, Cincinnati Walks for Kids coordinator. “We can’t wait to see all our friends, furry and otherwise, at the walk this year.”
Cincinnati Children’s is proud to have Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Honda Dealers as the Presenting Sponsor for the walk.
As a nonprofit hospital and research center, Cincinnati Children’s relies on events like Cincinnati Walks for Kids to help fund life-saving research, patient care and education. Since the walk’s inception, more than $4 million has been raised for the hospital.
