Friday, August 18, 2023

Sharon Marine has been named chief philanthropy officer of Cincinnati Children’s. She begins in this role on Oct. 9, 2023.

Marine brings more than 30 years of experience in philanthropy and donor relations, including her most recent service as senior vice president at Grenzebach Glier and Associates. Prior to that, Marine was vice president for alumni relations and development at the University of Chicago.

During her tenure at the University of Chicago, Marine raised more than $2.7 billion in new gifts and commitments. She also developed, led and implemented programs that contributed to a historic $5.4 billion capital campaign that also engaged more than 130,000 alumni.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Sharon to Cincinnati Children’s,” said Steve Davis, MD, president and CEO. “Sharon’s experience building world-class development teams and supporting mechanisms connecting donors to their passion in support of our organization will be a fantastic addition. Sharon is joining us after a record-breaking year of philanthropy, setting us on an exciting trajectory to help us continue in our journey to change the outcome for children.”

Marine has also held leadership roles in development at Cornell University, the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

As a nonprofit health organization, Cincinnati Children’s relies on philanthropic support to help further efforts in clinical care, research and education. In the role of chief philanthropy officer, Marine will lead the team responsible for all fundraising and donor relations efforts.

“The opportunity to join Cincinnati Children’s – the No. 1 pediatric health system in the nation – is an honor and a privilege,” Marine said. “This historic organization continues to lead the nation in clinical care, research and education, and I look forward to building upon the legacy of giving already established, both in Cincinnati and beyond.”

A graduate of Brown University, Marine enjoys volunteering with an animal rescue organization and has been involved in a number of industry organizations.
