Cincinnati Children’s Centerville Reopens After Construction Upgrades

Cincinnati Children’s Centerville is again seeing patients following construction upgrades to the building. Numerous physicians and other providers have resumed offering specialty medical care close to home for families in Greater Dayton, and the lead primary care doctor at the location will begin doing so next week.

“We welcomed back the first patients July 6 to ensure that the kids and families can continue to receive world-class specialty medical care right where they live,” said Carrie Romano, RN, a doctor of nursing practice who is vice president for Patient Services. “We’re happy to announce that beginning August 3, primary care will again be available at Cincinnati Children’s Centerville. We truly appreciate the patience shown by all the families we serve as we made improvements to our facility.”

Dr. Zenar Yohannes, who has been seeing primary care patients at other Cincinnati Children’s locations during the temporary closure, said that both she and those families are pleased to be able to return to the Centerville office at 6555 Clyo Road. “I’m excited to be coming back, and many of the families we care for have let me know they are equally excited,” Yohannes said. “As a pediatrician and parent myself, I understand the importance of regular health checkups, preventive screenings, vaccinations, and school and sports physicals – in addition to as-needed sick visits and minor injury evaluations. At Cincinnati Children’s Centerville, we provide care for newborns, kids and teens, making sure that families have access to the best medical advice, resources and support.” 

The entire brick exterior of the Centerville building was replaced as part of a nearly year-long construction project to address issues discovered after Cincinnati Children’s purchased the  structure and 6.9 surrounding acres in 2022.

“The exterior, which was built back in 2007, had begun to allow in water,” Romano said. “That has been fixed, and now everything looks perfect. We even replaced the brick on the Cincinnati Children’s Centerville sign out front, and the whole exterior matches the look of our new brick buildings at other locations.”

Cincinnati Children’s also re-graded the ground around the building, installed new landscaping, re-sealed the parking lot and repainted interior walls. The health system previously renovated the interior of the single-story, 12,990-square-foot Centerville building, which opened as a Cincinnati Children’s location in March 2023.

Cincinnati Children’s Centerville has also resumed providing lab work, X-ray and ultrasound in addition to ambulatory specialty care, which includes: Allergy and Immunology; Audiology; Dermatology; Endocrinology; Gastroenterology; Gynecology; Neonatology (Newborn Intensive Care Follow-up and Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia); Neurology (Epilepsy, Headache Center and Neuroimmunology); Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat); Preventive Cardiology (Center for Better Health & Nutrition—Healthworks!); Pulmonology; and Urology.
