Built for Precision: A New Standard in Pediatric Gastroenterology Procedures
Unlike traditional shared procedure rooms, this suite is specifically designed for pediatric gastroenterology (GI) care. Every aspect—from imaging systems to room configuration—was developed with the unique needs of pediatric patients in mind.
The upgraded suite enables safer, more efficient and more precise care across all age groups. With advanced imaging capabilities, we are elevating the standard for both diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Advanced Imaging Technology Enhancing Clinical Decision-Making
The suite features one of the most sophisticated imaging systems available, offering:
- High-Resolution, Real-Time Visualization – A large flat-panel detector and smart image optimization deliver exceptional clarity, supporting faster and more accurate clinical decisions.
- Full-Body Imaging Without Repositioning – Extended detector travel allows for complete head-to-toe imaging without moving the patient—ideal for medically fragile or complex cases.
- Reduced Radiation Exposure – Integrated low-dose software and virtual collimation minimize radiation for both patients and staff.
- Versatile Imaging Capabilities – Supports fluoroscopy, radiography and image-guided GI studies, adapting to a wide range of procedural needs.
- Improved Workflow and Patient Comfort – Programmable positioning, a left-side support arm, and a carbon fiber table (supporting up to 660 lbs. and lowering to 20 inches) streamline exams and enhance accessibility.
Supporting a Rapidly Growing Program
Our Interventional Endoscopy Center has grown since its inception, with continued increases in procedural volume. Previously performed in shared spaces, procedures will now be centralized in this dedicated suite, enabling:
- Faster room turnover and improved scheduling
- Optimized equipment setup for GI-specific procedures
- Expanded capacity for advanced interventions including:
- Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
- Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
- Feeding tube placement
- Esophageal dilation procedures
Designed for Collaboration, Education and Innovation
Developed through a multidisciplinary partnership among Gastroenterology, Radiology, Interventional Radiology and Medical Physics, the suite includes:
- A dedicated control room with observer capabilities.
- In-room monitors, microphones and cameras for real-time teaching and remote consultation.
- Broadcast capabilities for inter-institutional collaboration and education.
These features enhance care delivery and position Cincinnati Children’s as a national leader in pediatric interventional endoscopy.
Why This Matters
As one of the few pediatric centers in the U.S. offering ERCP and EUS performed by pediatric specialists, we are committed to expanding access to procedures that are often unavailable elsewhere. Our new suite ensures:
- Timely access to advanced care.
- Improved diagnostic accuracy.
- Reduced risk and recovery time compared to surgical alternatives.
We remain dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care for children with complex gastrointestinal conditions—and to supporting one another in providing the best possible outcomes for our patients.
This initiative is made possible through the generous support of the Sands Family Foundation, whose gift is advancing the work at the Cincinnati Children’s Interventional Endoscopy Center and Pancreas Care Center.
