Research Support Infrastructure

The Division of Emergency Medicine at Cincinnati Children's excels in researcher support. Our unique infrastructure allows our researchers to receive significant support at every step of a research project.

Executive Committee

Research leadership is provided by the recently established research executive committee, chaired by the Senior Academic Director. The executive committee consists of senior research leaders and a junior faculty member who will be mentored through the process.

The committee meets monthly to determine and update strategy, consider operational plans and review their progress, balance the project portfolio and capacity of our system and provide support and services to our research faculty.  Key topics include the following:

  • Divisional scientific review
  • Grantsmanship and scientific writing
  • Impact of resources and outcomes of research processes
  • Optimal pipeline development for scientific ideas.

Research Steering Committee

A broader and inclusive research steering committee meets every other month and offer all research-engaged faculty, fellows and inter-divisional collaborators to advise and provide feedback to the executive committee as well as to serve as a forum where new opportunities and directions can be discussed.

Research Manager and Clinical Research Coordinators

The research manager oversees as team of fourteen Clinical Research Coordinators as well as a divisional financial analyst, a research associate and a research supervisor.

They engage and support all aspects of a research project - from study design, protocol development, financial and regulatory procedures, enrollment, study monitoring and closeout.

CRCs are available 16 hours, 7 days per week at our Burnett campus to enroll patients in clinical studies. We utilize a shared model where the team of CRCs enrolls patients for all divisional studies, and each study is provided a lead CRC.
