About

Biography

My clinical focus is on pediatric hospital medicine, which allows me to care for children and young adults who are admitted to the hospital. My specialty area of focus is the care of medically complex patients, who often have important technology needs such as feeding tubes and breathing support. I enjoy working with a multidisciplinary team to partner with patients and their families to address acute problems and then transition patients home safely.

I am proud to serve as a medical educator who works with medical trainees, including medical students, resident doctors and fellows. Teaching and mentoring these learners allows me not only to train future pediatricians, but also to learn from and collaborate with passionate colleagues every day. Additionally, in my role as Associate Chief of Staff for Acute Care, I partner with nursing and operations leaders to ensure excellent and safe care across our inpatient units in the hospital.

My research interests primarily lie in quality improvement. I enjoy considering how to improve processes that affect patient care and operations. Several examples include how to efficiently discharge patients from the hospital so they can return to their active home lives as soon as possible and implementing a Behavior Response Team to provide proactive behavioral support to patients admitted to the hospital.

Throughout my career, I am honored to have received several awards, including:

  • Faculty Teaching Award (2013) nominated by the graduating pediatric residents in recognition of my teaching abilities
  • Patient Education Advocacy Award (2016) to recognize health literacy efforts to better communicate discharge instructions to families
  • Junior Faculty Clinical Care Achievement Award (2017) nominated by my mentors and peers for clinical excellence
  • Pediatric Hospital Medicine Award for Quality and Safety (2021) for local and national quality improvement and safety leadership

Personally, I enjoy going to restaurants, traveling and spending time with my friends and family, including my husband and three kids.
