I believe parents and caregivers always know their children best. When parents bring their own knowledge, love and dedication to their child, and we as psychologists provide our clinical experience, it is the most amazing and fulfilling thing in the world to see a child make developmental progress and be successful.

About

Biography

As a clinical child psychologist, I conduct diagnostic testing with toddlers, children and adolescents with concern for developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and/or behavioral or socio-emotional difficulties. Doing this work with families is a privilege and a serious responsibility, and I strive to do the very best I can for each and every family.

I knew I was meant to work with and serve children from an early age. I became especially passionate about serving children with developmental delays and ASD in graduate school. Now, as a parent myself, I am always cognizant of how difficult this journey may be for some families when they pursue diagnostic services through our division. I am humbled and honored daily to have the trust and confidence of our families.

In my practice, I focus on family-centered care as I believe parents and caregivers always know their children best. When parents bring their own knowledge, love and dedication to their child, and we as psychologists provide our clinical experience, it is the most amazing and fulfilling thing in the world to see a child make developmental progress and be successful.

Family-centered care also allows diagnostic assessments to yield better information regarding a child's strengths as well as areas of challenge. This information can empower caregivers to better understand their child's needs and pursue helpful intervention and support.

In some cases, we need to share difficult diagnoses or clinical impressions with families. Doing this with compassion and helping them feel supported is very important to me. I've had many families thank me for the time and genuine care I showed throughout our time together. Knowing that I have helped them have the best and most supported experience possible through a stressful process means more to me that any award or honor ever could.

When I’m not helping my patients, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, crafting, and doing outdoor activities and home improvement projects. I am also a self-professed Disneyphile, and my family is always looking forward to our next Disney trip. I relish being able to integrate my extensive knowledge of Disney to connect with my patients. Seeing their eyes light up when I know their favorite characters, movies and songs, and being able to use that to build rapport, is one of my favorite things in the clinic!
