About

Biography

I’m a clinical fellow specializing in pediatric emergency medicine with a strong interest in sports injuries and rehabilitation. My multi-faceted patient care philosophy includes holistic/inclusive care, accessibility and equity, community engagement and empowerment, preventive and proactive care, and empathy and compassion. Children are resilient—even during their sickest times, they only want to laugh and smile. My goal with all my patients and families is to decrease the stress of their visits by coming in with a positive attitude and providing phenomenal and efficient care.

My desire to become a healthcare provider stems from my interest in breaking my community's poor health cycles/outcomes. Working in pediatrics seemed like the best way to accomplish this goal. Although my patient care is done inside the hospital, care is more effective when you know the patient population you are treating. The only way for this to happen is to submerge yourself in the community and learn its specific needs.

I’m honored to have won various awards, including the Resident Advocate of the Year (2022), given by the Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital Residency Program, for recognition of residents who have made outstanding strides in advocating for patients in the community. I also won the Month of Service MVP award (June 2024), given by the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Volunteer Ambassador Program, in recognition of giving back to the community where you work and live. Community service is the best way to meet and get to know the needs of the patients you will be treating in the hospital.

As a researcher, I’m specifically interested in understanding the social determinants of health and how these factors affect patient care, mental health as it pertains to children and adolescents, and sports injuries. It is essential to start teaching at a young age when attempting to break generational cycles, as children are sponges. Together, we can work to improve their environment and outcomes.

In my free time, I love to travel and eat good food. My favorite travel destinations include Central America and the Caribbean. I’m a sucker for good street tacos, and I’m always looking for the most authentic street taco around. In addition, I am a sports junkie, and when I am not working, you can find me either watching or playing sports.
