As a pediatrician and newborn hospitalist, I like to view each family and patient as unique. Each child is different, even babies who are well.
I was inspired to be a pediatrician during medical school when pediatrics became my favorite rotation.
In the special-care setting, I remind myself as I approach each family that they probably didn't imagine this outcome. I take time to be thorough and to discuss the child with their parents. I also make sure the parents know that while they deal with their own recovery and the uncertainties regarding their newborn, their little one is our number one priority.
I was a pediatrician in the U.S. Air Force for seven years and now serve as a pediatrician in the Ohio Air National Guard. I received the Uniformed Services Outstanding Young Pediatrician of the Year in 2018, and I’m a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society.
In my free time, I enjoy gardening and landscaping.
