As a nurse practitioner in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU), I use an individualized approach to the care I provide infants that includes involving the family to form a customized plan that best meets the goals of all involved. Having a baby admitted to the NICU is not the plan any parent would envision. Our team provides the best support and resources to assist families through this difficult time.
During nursing school, I decided I wanted to work with children after my pediatric rotation. As a bedside nurse working in pediatrics, I covered in the nursery while someone was on medical leave. I fell in love with working with the babies and families! Shortly after that, I began working in a Level III NICU, providing care for babies born at less than 32 weeks gestation or born with critical illnesses at all gestational ages.
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, quilting and working on home improvement projects.
