I’m a psychiatrist treating pediatric mental health conditions such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, depression and anxiety. I am also interested in complex and treatment-resistant conditions. Quality behavioral healthcare should not be overly structured. Physicians should be able to use critical thinking skills to adjust diagnosis and treatment to individual patients. Building an alliance with patients and families is essential to facilitate treatment.
My interest in this work was sparked by the knowledge that the relationship between a physician and a patient can influence the quality of care. Psychiatry is an art and science that requires precise communication and rapport building. The practice of psychiatry requires unique and tailored solutions for the complex issues of daily life. Children and adolescents require an additional understanding of their developmental needs and challenges. Working with children allows for the opportunity to impact their life trajectory meaningfully.
As a researcher, I work to identify and study gaps in care access to help streamline the path from concerns to assessment.
When not at work, I am not good at sitting still. I have a minor in studio art, and I enjoy anything do-it-yourself (DIY), such as crafting, renovation and carpentry.
