Emily Hackbarth, OD

I’m a pediatric optometrist and my passion is helping kids achieve their very best vision. I specialize in the treatment and management of amblyopia, strabismus, binocular vision disorders, and low vision. My goal is to provide high-quality, comprehensive eye care to every child, making sure each patient has the best vision possible.

From a young age, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare. My father was a pediatric intensive care doctor, and his dedication inspired me. In 8th grade, I became fascinated by ocular anatomy during a science class, and later, shadowing a pediatric optometrist in high school confirmed that this was the right path for me. Working with children brings an extra challenge—and a lot of fun—to each clinic day, making my work truly rewarding.

I strive to make every eye exam fun and easy for both the patient and their family. I believe that when kids are comfortable, we can work together to achieve the best outcomes. I love building relationships with families and being a part of their child’s journey to better vision.

Beyond my clinical practice, I enjoy reading, hiking, practicing yoga and spending time outdoors. I am originally from Michigan and spend time hiking in northern Michigan every summer.
