The Division of Ophthalmology is a major pediatric referral center for diagnosing and treating eye diseases and injuries of all types. We care for thousands of children each year, from newborns to young adults, who come to us from our community as well as from around the country and the world.

We treat eye problems ranging from amblyopia and strabismus to inherited and acquired retinal disease. Our pediatric retina program is considered the region’s top such program.

Our pediatric ophthalmologists and optometrists are recognized leaders in their field. They serve as instructors on the faculty of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and many of our faculty also conduct clinical research into visual development.

Our eye surgeons are some of the most active and experienced in the field, performing more than 1,000 eye surgeries annually. They surgically repair conditions ranging from nasal lacrimal duct obstruction (NLDO) to eye misalignment and complex eye reconstruction after injury.
