About

Biography

I have been an attending staff member of the Division of Cardiology at Cincinnati Children's since 2005. My clinical subspecialty interests include echocardiography, congenital heart disease, preventive cardiology, and pediatric obesity. I run clinics for the treatment of hyperlipidemia and hypertension.

As a native of Ohio, I completed my medical degree at Wright State University, followed by my pediatric internship and residency at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital in California. I then completed my pediatric cardiology fellowship at Cincinnati Children's.

My academic research interests focus on echocardiography, preventive cardiology, and pediatric obesity. I am a faculty member of the Cardiovascular Imaging Core Research Laboratory and have presented at national meetings on topics such as the cardiac effects of pediatric obesity and new imaging modalities like color M-mode and tissue Doppler imaging for assessing diastolic function. I also serve as a reviewer for the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography.

In addition to my cardiology work, I am part of the multidisciplinary Comprehensive Weight Management Center team, where I evaluate and treat cardiovascular diseases in extremely overweight adolescents before and after bariatric surgery. I also conduct research related to this population.

I am an alumna of the National Institutes of Health funded Master's Training Program, where I completed a Master of Epidemiology Fellowship at the University of Cincinnati while attending my Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship at Cincinnati Children's. I have established collaborative relationships with faculty at the University of Cincinnati Department of Environmental Health.

I am an active member of the cardiology community, including the American Society of Echocardiography, Society of Pediatric Echocardiography, American Heart Association, and Council of Cardiovascular Disease in the Young.

I am also involved in community service as the volunteer associate medical director for the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon, an event partially sponsored by Cincinnati Children's.
