As a registered nurse in Michigan, I enjoyed working with people who had diabetes.
Now, as a nurse practitioner in the Division of Endocrinology, I specialize in diabetes care. I also like that I can use my Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a focus on Exercise Science in the field of diabetes care.
Wearing an insulin pump through both of my pregnancies helped me to appreciate the intricacies and burden of diabetes care.
I believe families are the drivers of care. They know their situation best and are the ones who provide the care on a daily basis. My job is to provide options and ideas, and to teach techniques that help the family improve care.
I was proud to earn the JDRF One Walk Endo Champion award in 2019. This walk supports the research of type 1 diabetes through the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
In my free time, I love to garden, bike, walk and spend time with my husband and two children.
