About

Biography

As an integrated behavioral health provider in the primary care setting, I work closely with families to address mental and behavioral health needs as soon as they arise. My role is often described as a “gate keeper”—when parents or primary care providers notice potential concerns, I’m here to listen, help create a plan of action, set goals, and begin interventions or guide families to the right level of care. Every child’s experience is unique, so I tailor treatment goals to fit each patient’s needs, whether that means helping a child understand how ADHD affects motivation, exploring why we get a nervous stomach when we’re scared, or teaching skills to manage anger.

Our program is rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps patients connect their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a way that’s both age-appropriate and engaging. I love using humor and building rapport to make learning about our brains and bodies fun and interesting for kids. As both a parent and grandparent, I know how important it is to feel heard and understood, and I strive to make every family feel comfortable and supported. My hope is that parents leave my office saying, “She was really nice! It was easy to talk to her!”

Growing up in rural Appalachia, I witnessed firsthand the challenges of poverty, trauma, depression, and anxiety. These experiences help me genuinely empathize with families who come to me with concerns for their child’s well-being. When I say, “I hear you. I understand what you are saying,” I truly mean it. Now that my own children are grown, I feel it’s my turn to give back and support parents the way my community supported me.

Outside of work, I enjoy unwinding by lounging in the pool, doing crafts, and tackling word puzzles that challenge my brain. I also love camping, exploring new places, and perhaps most of all, building Star Wars Legos!
