Nirali Patel, MD

As a pediatric neurosurgeon, I am passionate about helping children and their families navigate complex neurological conditions such as brain tumors, spina bifida and spasticity. My goal is to provide personalized treatment plans that support each child’s health, development and quality of life. Whether your child’s care involves surgery, ongoing management, or a multidisciplinary approach, I am committed to working closely with you every step of the way so you feel informed, supported and confident in your child’s care.  
 
My care philosophy centers on partnership, communication and compassion. I believe every child and family comes to us with their own unique experiences, concerns and goals, and I strive to meet you where you are. By listening carefully and communicating openly, I work to ensure families feel empowered throughout their journey. Together, we develop individualized, patient-centered care plans that reflect your child’s needs and help achieve the best possible outcomes. Above all, I am dedicated to building trusting relationships and providing care that treats the whole child, not just their condition.  
 
My journey into medicine began with a desire to care for people during some of the most challenging and vulnerable moments of their lives. As an EMT in college, I learned that great care means offering comfort, compassion and reassurance, not just medical expertise. Neurosurgery resonated with me because of the unique relationships it fosters between physicians, patients and families. I am continually inspired by the resilience of children and the strength of their families, and I am honored to serve as both a physician and an advocate for my patients.  
 
In addition to my clinical work, my research focuses on improving outcomes for children with neurosurgical conditions, especially pediatric brain tumors. I am interested in exploring new technologies and treatment strategies that can improve outcomes while minimizing long-term effects on a child’s developing brain. I also study how social factors influence access to care and outcomes, with the goal of promoting more equitable healthcare for all children.  
 
Outside of work, I enjoy going for long runs, baking delicious treats, and curling up with a good book. My husband and I love to travel and explore new places, cultures and hobbies together.
