I'm a nurse practitioner in the Division of Oncology, and I believe in a family-centered approach for all of my patients. I have always tried to make the worst parts of this journey better each day, even if it is only something small. I often say, "If I made that a little easier for them, then I did my job today."
Being part of a large extended family, I love helping care for kids, so pediatrics was a natural fit for me. During nursing school, I was drawn to the clinical experiences where I could develop a relationship with patients to improve their care and the quality of their lives.
I get to know my patients and their families, so I can provide them with the best care. When I got the opportunity to do a clinical in pediatric oncology, I fell in love with the population. I welcomed the patients' challenges and understanding and liked putting a smile on the kids' faces. When I received my master's degree, staying in oncology was the only option I considered.
In my free time, I love being with my family.
