I understand firsthand the challenges and emotions that come with heart surgery, not just for a child but for their entire family. My goal is for heart disease to be a chapter in your child’s story, not a defining or limiting condition.

About

Biography

I care for children and adults with congenital heart disease, from their very first days through every stage of life. My specialty is congenital cardiac surgery, including the treatment of heart malformations, great vessel defects and issues with veins returning to the heart. Whether it’s a child’s first surgery or a re-operation later in life, I am committed to providing expert, compassionate care.

My journey as a pediatric heart surgeon is deeply personal—I was born with tetralogy of Fallot and underwent two heart operations as a child. Because I’ve lived through these experiences, I bring a unique perspective and attention to detail to every patient I treat. I understand firsthand the challenges and emotions that come with heart surgery, not just for a child but for their entire family. My goal is for heart disease to be a chapter in your child’s story, not a defining or limiting condition. I strive to offer hope and empathy, always believing that children can go on to live fruitful, fulfilling lives.

I am passionate about improving quality of life after surgery and minimizing the number of procedures a child may need over their lifetime. My research focuses on optimizing surgical techniques, especially RV-PA conduit positioning and materials, to reduce the need for repeat operations.

Outside of work, my wife, two children and our dog are my life. Most evenings you’ll find us walking or playing outside with neighbors and we love hosting friends and traveling together—though adventures are a bit more challenging with young kids!
