About

Biography

My clinical specialty is neonatology, where I care for critically ill infants and their families. My approach is patient-centered with an evidence-based foundation. I believe that a holistic group effort between the medical team and parents is imperative to positive medical outcomes. Overall, I want parents to know that they are crucial to their child's success, and that while the medical team makes medical decisions, they are also part of the team. Our team is here to support the entire family unit.

Growing up in a rural and low-health-resource area, I was inspired to become a physician. I was drawn to neonatology, because of the unique opportunity to support infants and their families during a difficult time, such as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) admission. I'm consistently fascinated by neonatal physiology, and I love that each patient and family is unique.

As a researcher, I want to understand the disparity in neonatal outcomes between babies of color and their counterparts. Ultimately, I want to use data to create programs that intervene in adverse health outcomes for women of color and their infants.

During my fellowship, I received the Marshall Klaus Award for Health Services Research and the Friends of Prentice Grant initiative for my work on disparities in neonatal outcomes for infants of color.

When I’m not working, I keep up with football, especially the Dallas Cowboys and LSU Tigers. You will often find me at a daytime baseball game or cooking—I especially enjoy pickling and making my own sauces.
