I’m a pediatric neurologist with a particular interest in headache medicine. I value empowering patients to feel confident in their headache treatment plan while helping all patients have more equitable access to evidence-based headache care.
My interest in this work stems from having several family members who experience migraine. Also, as a former substitute teacher, I enjoy working with and teaching children. I recognize the importance of education tailored to each patient and family for the optimal management of headaches.
Most of my time is spent in the outpatient clinics, including our multidisciplinary headache clinic with headache specialists, psychologists, researchers and specialty-trained headache nurses. This multidisciplinary approach helps lead to successful headache treatment while empowering and educating our patients and families to feel confident in headache management. I also spend time in our inpatient headache service caring for pediatric patients with status migrainosus that are unresponsive to outpatient treatment.
As a researcher, I pursue several areas of interest in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in headache care and global health research. Growing up as a first-generation college student from rural Michigan, I plan to further my research interests in headache disparities at local and global levels. I spent a month practicing neurology in Tanzania during my residency at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and have also been to Nicaragua and Costa Rica on global health trips. I was honored to receive the Frontiers in Headache Research Scholarship from the American Headache Society (2022).
I love spending time with my friends, family and my English Setters, Ellie and Cere (short for Cerebellum). I also enjoy hiking in national parks, gardening, taking pictures and traveling.
