Mustafa K. Saidi, MD, MBA

I am passionate about caring for children and their families during some of the most stressful and uncertain moments in their lives. My goal is to ensure that every patient and family feels heard, cared for, and treated as more than just another number. I strive to make the emergency department experience as comfortable and reassuring as possible by reducing anxiety and fear, earning my patients' trust and providing thoughtful, compassionate care when families need it most.

My clinical interests focus on providing comprehensive care to children across the full spectrum of acute illness and injury. I particularly value the opportunity to evaluate undifferentiated patients, rapidly identify those who are most ill, and use evidence-based medicine to make timely decisions that can have an immediate impact on their health. I believe the best care is delivered as part of a collaborative team, one that includes not only physicians, but also the patient and their family, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, child life specialists, and other supportive staff.

My journey into medicine was inspired by a lifelong love of learning and a desire to make a meaningful impact on the people and communities around me. Growing up with two younger brothers, I often found myself looking out for their well-being, and from an early age, I knew that caring for children would be an important part of my life. During medical school, I was naturally drawn to pediatrics and the privilege of supporting children and their families. In residency, I discovered that the emergency department was where I could make some of the most immediate and meaningful impacts, guiding families through critical moments and providing the support they need.

Throughout my training, I was honored to receive the Peer Leadership Award during all three years of my residency at Maimonides Children's Hospital, as well as the Outstanding Resident Award in my final year, a recognition that was especially meaningful because it was the first time a hospital wide award was given to Pediatrics.

Outside of work, I do my best to leave medicine at the hospital and focus on my most important roles: being a husband and a father. I am a father of four, including two autistic children, and being their dad has given me a unique perspective on communication, patience, advocacy, and meeting every child where they are. My favorite way to spend my free time is simply being with my family and enjoying the moments, both big and small, that come with watching my children grow.
