I learned about bone marrow transplantation as an undergraduate at the University of California Los Angeles, where I worked in a hematopoietic stem cell lab — and I was hooked! It's amazing how these stem cells can completely recreate the human blood system.
Children are so fun, and I love working with them. They can surprise you each day when you walk into their room. In my practice, I remind myself of what it's like to be a patient, what the patient's and family's goals are and what I can do to help.
My two primary research areas of interest are in developing cellular therapies for hard-to-treat cancers and studying the role of the circadian rhythm in our transplant patients.
During my free time, I enjoy exploring the outdoors and improving my cooking skills.
