As an advanced practice registered nurse, I work in the Division of Neonatology. We gain nothing by always doing things the way they have been done in the past. There’s always room to improve our practice.
I was immediately intrigued by the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) from the second I set foot into the unit while touring as a nursing student. After over a decade of bedside nursing, I wanted to be more involved in planning care and have the ability to do more procedures than placing peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC lines). I completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and then a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program to become a nurse practitioner.
I enjoy spending my free time with my family, and I’m also an avid runner.
