As a pediatric gastroenterologist, I specialize in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). I’ve found that my patients with IBD are often these amazing little warriors who demonstrate such strength. It is truly inspiring to be around them and an honor to take care of them. I like to learn about what my patients enjoy and get them well enough to get back to that part of their lives. That is what led me to pursue an additional year of training focused on inflammatory bowel disease to best take care of these patients.
My clinical research focuses on health disparities in IBD, specifically focusing on food insecurity and food access. We understand that adequate nutrition is an essential part of IBD treatment and ongoing care. A better understanding of food insecurity and other social determinants of health can help us deliver equitable care to our patients and improve long-term outcomes for them.
