Frequently Asked Questions About Admissions and Career Outcomes

Prospective students often ask about career opportunities, required background, and professional experience expectations. If your question isn’t addressed below, we encourage you to contact us directly.
Clinical data scientists are in extremely high demand and are sought after by a wide range of organizations, including pharmaceutical and biotech companies, colleges and universities, government agencies and nonprofit organizations, and healthcare and financial services corporations.
Clinical data science is a hybridized science. As such, students come from a variety of backgrounds and with widely varying areas of interest and expertise. Some of our students concentrate on the more technical parts of the job while others focus on managing people, projects, and systems. The one characteristic all of our students have in common is the ability to manage the flow of data through a clinical research study.
Our Clinical Data Science MS Program is a professional degree. As such, our students are expected to provide data-related guidance to the scientific teams with whom they work. While prior work experience is not required, we do believe that it is tremendously helpful to the learning experience. As such, candidates with prior, relevant work experience will be able to place their learning into a new, broader, and potentially deeper context for professional practice.
