Training Future Leaders in Pediatric Biomedical Research

The Development, Stem Cells & Regenerative Medicine Graduate Program at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center—formerly the Molecular and Developmental Biology (MDB) Program—offers a unique opportunity to participate in cutting-edge human development and childhood disease research while being embedded in one of the top pediatric hospitals in the nation. Cincinnati Children's provides outstanding cutting-edge facilities and has been the home of major breakthroughs in both pediatric and adult medicine.

Our Research

Our research spans a diverse set of disciplines and examines a multitude of cellular, molecular and systems-based questions. We are a highly collaborative group, partnering with discovery-based scientists and clinicians across various divisions to translate our discoveries into new medicines and treatments. Our scientists utilize a variety of model systems and approaches to uncover mechanisms that guide organ formation at both a cellular and tissue level, elucidate the developmental basis of disease, and harness the potential of stem cells and organoids for regenerative medicine.

Our six main areas of investigation are:

  • Organogenesis, Congenital Disease, and Therapeutics
  • Stem Cells and Organoid Medicine
  • Neurobiology
  • Genetics, Genomics and Bioinformatics
  • Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Biology
  • Cancer Biology and Immunological Disease

Research By the Numbers

Each year, our students succeed in publishing important findings in top journals, with students presenting their work at national and international conferences.
