Double Chamber Right Ventricle (DCRV) in Children

What Is Double Chamber Right Ventricle?

Double chamber right ventricle (DCRV) is a rare congenital heart defect. Congenital means a child is born with it. It affects the lower right chamber of the heart (called the right ventricle). The job of the right ventricle is to pump blood to the lungs.

In this condition, an abnormal, thick band of heart muscle forms inside the right ventricle and divides it into two sections. Because of this extra muscle tissue, blood flow inside the ventricle becomes partly blocked. This makes it harder for blood to flow to the lungs.
