Each year, our lab makes one to two volunteer positions available to provide graduate and exceptional undergraduate students with an opportunity to participate in behavioral research in a pediatric academic medical setting. Our team’s objective during your volunteer experience is to expand your research interests and skills and enhance your educational development.
Volunteers in our lab participate in a number of research activities including:
- Training in regulatory requirements in research (HIPAA, Institutional Review Board regulations), editing manuscripts
- Data collection
- Data management
- Family and participant correspondence
Volunteers also attend weekly lab meetings where they learn basic research methods, details about ongoing research projects, and the behavioral and psychosocial factors associated with chronic illness self-management.
All volunteers must obtain a Cincinnati Children’s badge which is required for volunteers to access hospital areas and participate in lab research activities. This process may take one to two months and must be completed before volunteering can commence.
