Advancing the Field of Islet Isolation Through Translational and Clinical Research
The Islet Isolation Center features a team of clinicians, scientists, administrators and collaborators spanning multiple divisions within Cincinnati Children’s and beyond.
This team works collaboratively to provide state-of-the-art human islet isolation services to patients of Cincinnati Children’s, as well as to advance the field of islet isolation through translational and clinical research.
The program supports patients who are undergoing partial or total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation (TPIAT) procedures. Our primary focus is to improve the outcomes of patients receiving TPIAT surgery by:
- Providing superlative islet isolation by following Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Tissue Practices.
- Conducting research on the excised pancreas and isolated islets to scrutinize and inform clinical practices. This enables Cincinnati Children’s to continue to be the vanguard center for providing pancreas care.
