The Hope and Shield Network: Supporting Recovery After Violence

Experiencing violence can have lasting effects on physical health, emotional well-being, and future opportunities. The Hope and Shield Network helps individuals and families begin the healing process by connecting them with support and resources after a violent incident.

Cincinnati Children's partners with UC Health, the City of Cincinnati and community organizations through The Hope and Shield Network to help individuals and families recover from violence, build stability and reduce the risk of future harm.

What Is the Hope and Shield Network?

The Hope and Shield Network is a hospital-based violence intervention program that supports people recovering from violence-related injuries. The program recognizes that recovery involves more than healing from a physical injury. Many individuals and families also face challenges related to trauma, housing, education, employment and personal safety.

By connecting participants with trusted resources and ongoing support, the program helps individuals and families move forward after a crisis.

Why Do Programs Like Hope and Shield Matter?

By combining medical care, trauma-informed support and community resources, The Hope and Shield Network helps individuals and families build safer, healthier futures.
