About

Biography

I was inspired by the work of Dr. Robert Masland Jr. at Harvard Medical School and Dr. James Tanner at Oxford University to pursue my career in research studying pubertal maturation. I analyze factors that impact the onset of pubertal maturation and how changes during puberty can impact adult morbidity and mortality.

Youth are maturing at an earlier age. My research studies evaluate the effects that endocrine disruptors, such as household chemicals and personal care products, can exert on growth and development. I'm also studying risk markers for breast cancer. I examine additional factors, such as body mass index (BMI) and how elevations in BMI may be associated with the development of breast cancer.

My research is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). I am board-certified in Internal Medicine (1983), Pediatrics (1986) and Adolescent Medicine (1995). I received the Clinical Care Achievement award from Cincinnati Children’s in 2017.
