About

Biography

I am a pediatric nurse practitioner specializing in sleep medicine and pulmonary care for children with neuromuscular disorders.

My approach to patient care comes from the nursing roots of "whole patient care." This strategy involves the family unit, the environment and psychosocial factors that affect health. I believe patient care should be a collaboration between the healthcare provider and the patient, using research-based protocols as a foundation.

In pulmonary medicine, we work as a team with nursing and administrative staff. As an advanced practice nurse, I frequently consult about my patients' care with other physician colleagues. We also work closely with our sleep and pulmonary function labs for testing.

I feel fortunate to have received care as an adolescent from a wonderful nurse practitioner who inspired me to pursue an advanced practice nursing degree. My first nursing position as an RN was in pediatric oncology. I worked mostly nights, which led me to specialize in pediatric care and spurred my interest in sleep medicine.

My research focuses on improving ways to manage sleep disorders and finding the best ways to communicate details about medical conditions and treatments to patients and families.

In my free time, I try to stay active. I enjoy running and indoor cycling. I also like to spend lots of time outside with my husband, son and dog.
