Biography

Dr. Bezold is the Division Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at the Kentucky Children’s Hospital and co-director of the Joint Heart Program Lexington, KY site. The Joint Heart Program is a collaboration between Cincinnati Children’s and Kentucky Children’s to bring world-class heart care closer to home for Kentucky residents.

Dr. Bezold completed residency and fellowship training and started his faculty career at Texas Children’s Hospital. He first joined UK HealthCare in 2005, spent 2 years (2016-18) at Ohio State University, and subsequently returned to UK as Director of Pediatric Cardiology Outreach. He has previously served as Director of the Pediatric Echocardiography Laboratory and as Associate CMO for Kentucky Children’s Hospital.

As a clinician, Dr. Bezold has advanced subspecialty training and interest in pediatric echocardiography, including fetal and transesophageal imaging and has served on the board of directors and for the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission, Echocardiography Division.

Dr. Bezold cares for children and families throughout central and eastern Kentucky, including KCH clinics in Lexington, Pikeville and at the Joint Heart Program Clinic location in Ashland. He also attends clinics sponsored by the state Office for Children with Special Healthcare Needs.
