About

Biography

As a pediatric ophthalmologist, my approach to care is rooted in compassion, precision and a deep respect for the unique needs of each patient and family. Whether I am performing surgery or conducting a routine vision screening, I strive to ensure that every child receives the highest quality care in a supportive and understanding environment. I am humbled to have the opportunity to support children in developing their best vision, and I am committed to working as a team with my patients’ families to educate them and provide an understanding of their child’s care along the way.

While I provide comprehensive ophthalmologic care, I have special interest in the care of pediatric cataracts, pediatric glaucoma, pediatric and adult strabismus (drifting eyes) and amblyopia. The complex and often longitudinal nature of caring for patients with these conditions provides a unique opportunity for patients and families to build a trusting relationship with me as their doctor.

I earned my medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, where I also completed a certificate in rural community health. My experience in the rural health program taught me the importance of physician advocacy in improving access to care in underserved communities. One way that I strive to reach patients with limited access to care is through regular surgical service trips to the Dominican Republic. After completing my ophthalmology residency at Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, MI, I was honored to receive the Lawrence L. Stocker MD Award for the Most Compassionate Resident Physician as well as recognition for my research on Distance to Care, studying access to pediatric ophthalmology in Michigan. I completed my fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and subsequently joined the team here at Cincinnati Children's.

Outside of work, I enjoy swimming, catching up on my latest crime/drama TV show, eating good food and spending time with my husband.
