I’m the Outpatient Pharmacy manager and a Pharmacy System Administration and Leadership (PSAL) Residency Program preceptor. I help ensure that patients can obtain their prescriptions after being discharged from the hospital or following a clinic visit.
My interest in this work stems from spending time with my dad, a pharmacist who owned his own pharmacy business. I grew up watching all the activities needed to care for his customers in a safe and timely manner. I also enjoy the additional complexity associated with pediatrics and how it is constantly changing.
I understand that the Outpatient Pharmacy is usually a family's last stop on their visit to the hospital. I want to ensure that each patient receives their medication quickly and in the safest way possible. We must give patients and their families the information they need to adhere to their medication therapy successfully.
Outpatient Pharmacy is not merely sticking a label on a medication. Each prescription is thoughtfully reviewed by a pharmacist and then filled by a pharmacy technician. The final product is then checked for accuracy by another pharmacist. This process takes time, plus we are filling prescriptions for all types of patients. Patients may experience a wait, but this process ensures each patient gets the most accurate and safe prescription. We encourage families to plan ahead so they don't have to wait.
I have a teenage daughter with whom I like to spend my free time. She keeps me updated on all things Taylor Swift and her music. I also enjoy gardening and reading.
