I am a pediatric gastroenterologist who cares for children with complex pancreas and biliary disease, as well as general gastrointestinal issues.
Each patient is unique, and their care should reflect that. I strive to work closely with patients and their families to create a treatment plan that fits their goals. It is important to me to answer questions so that families feel comfortable with their child’s care.
My mother is a nurse, and I was always fascinated by her stories of caring for others. This set me on the path to a career in medicine. In medical school, while conducting research at Cincinnati Children's, I also discovered a passion for working with kids.
I specialize in pediatric advanced endoscopy, including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), double balloon enteroscopy (DBE), and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), among others. Part of what drove me to complete an advanced endoscopy fellowship is the growing recognition that complex biliary disease, acute recurrent pancreatitis and chronic pancreatitis can impact children's health. These conditions are uncommon, and it is not often that children undergo advanced endoscopic procedures, but it is a growing need. Few pediatric specialists are trained in advanced endoscopy or focusing on pancreaticobiliary disease, which drives me to fill this gap in care.
My research interests include patient safety and outcomes from advanced endoscopic procedures, and pediatric pancreatitis. I'm also interested in how endoscopic procedures can help manage obesity with newer endoscopic bariatric therapies. I work with the gastroenterology fellowship program to improve how we teach endoscopy to trainees so that they can become successful endoscopists.
Outside of work, I enjoy running, hiking, camping, backpacking and spending time with my family and two dogs.
