Nancy Samol, MD

Growing up, I loved my pediatrician. She was warm, funny and a total straight talker. I decided I wanted to be that kind of clinician.

I am a pediatric anesthesiologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. I help children sleep before their surgery, so they don’t feel any pain.

As an anesthesiologist, I don’t have the luxury of office visits to get to know a patient. I have to make a quick connection with the patient and family. Typically, I use humor to build that relationship.

I have three children at home, so I understand how surgery can cause anxiety. I want families to know that when children are in the operating room, our entire team cares for them as if they were their own.

In my free time, I love to snow ski and read. I'm addicted to yoga. I love watching my kids play sports. And, I am quite good at the yo-yo.
