Elizabeth Wilson, MD

I’m a pediatric neurologist at Cincinnati Children’s hospital. With specialized training in neurology and neuroimmunology, I treat a wide range of neurologic conditions including headache, developmental concerns, seizures, demyelinating disease, autoimmune disorders and inflammatory conditions of the central nervous system.

I love working with children — they have a unique way of seeing the world. As an undergraduate, I first became interested in neuroscience. I felt that neurology helped me connect biology with the day-to-day human experience, including how patients interact with themselves, their peers and their environment. Neurology gives me the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on my patients’ health and improve their quality of life.

My goal is always to treat my people first, not just their condition. While many patients have the same health concerns, they likely have a very different experience with how it impacts their life. As a result, I strive to practice patient-centered medicine and meet my patients where they are. I want to understand what is important to them and help them achieve their personal health goals.

Through my research I aim to understand how a patient's environment, including life stressors, interacts with their body and genetics in inflammatory neurologic conditions, such as multiple sclerosis. I believe that by studying this relationship we can better manage these disorders and advocate for changes that will improve patient outcomes. I’m also interested in clinical trials for these conditions that may provide new treatment options.

My fellowship in neuroimmunology was funded in part by the National MS Society. I’m thrilled to be involved with such a wonderful organization.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, our dog and two cats. We spend a lot of time outdoors hiking, camping, running and exploring new local restaurants. I love to bake — chocolate chip cookies are my signature dish and I have been known to bring in far too many treats for my co-workers.
