Job Shadow Program

The Job Shadow Program at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center provides experiential learning opportunities designed to help individuals learn about health career options as well as the skills that different occupations require. The program offers a four hour, once a month education and shadowing experience to 20 individuals interested in learning about a specific area in health care. Program participants will have the opportunity to experience the workplace setting as well as the duties performed by the health care worker they are shadowing; however, they will not be permitted to take part in hands-on patient care.

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY for an event until the application is posted. Applications received for future dated events will not be considered.

  • High school juniors- Must be at least 16 years of age
  • High school seniors
  • College students
  • Individuals exploring second career

The goals of the job shadowing program at Cincinnati Children's are to assist students in accomplishing the following:

  • Observe the daily routines of healthcare workers
  • Begin to identify career interests in healthcare
  • Gain awareness of the academic, technical and personal skills required in healthcare professions
  • Gain an understanding that different health careers have cultures and work environments that can be unique to a particular profession
  • Develop an understanding of the critical connections between school, work and goal attainment
  •  

Cincinnati Children's offers job shadowing experiences in the following professions:

  • Nurse
  • Pharmacy
  • Radiology
  • Surgical Tech
  • Respiratory Therapy
  • Speech
  • Audiology
