Magnetoencephalography (MEG)

What is Magnetoencephalography?

Magnetoencephalography (MEG) is a tool that helps doctors see what is happening inside the brain. It is especially helpful for kids with epilepsy who might need surgery. Doctors can create a more precise treatment plan by seeing exactly which part of the brain may be causing the seizures.

MEG is often used when medication has not worked, and surgery might be the next step.

MEG is also used to map normal brain function before surgery for brain tumors or other conditions like epilepsy. Doctors can plan surgeries that avoid critical areas in the brain. This lowers the chance of affecting important functions like movement, speech and vision.
