Care for Common Conditions That Don't Require an In-person Visit

When your child’s primary care provider isn't available, CincyKids Health Connect offers virtual urgent care visits 24/7 from the comfort of your home. Learn more about the conditions we can and cannot assess and treat.

Conditions We Can Treat:

  • Allergies
  • Bites (Animal, Human, Insect)
  • Burns (Minor)
  • Colds, Cough, Congestion, Croup, Runny Nose and Respiratory-Related Issues
  • Constipation, Diarrhea, Nausea and Vomiting
  • COVID-19 Concerns*
  • Earache, Specifically Swimmer's Ear and Ear Tube Drainage (We can only assess for ear infection if you have a TytoCare device)
  • Fever (2+ years of age)
  • Flu-like Symptoms*
  • Head Injury (Minor; Without Loss of Consciousness)
  • Head Lice
  • Mild Headaches
  • Pink Eye
  • Skin Conditions like Diaper Rash, Impetigo, Poison Ivy, Rashes, Ringworm Scabies and Sunburn
  • Sore Throat*
  • Sprains, Strains and Overuse Injuries
  • Thrush
  • Urinary Symptoms*

If it’s not an emergency and you’re not sure whether your child should be seen in person or treated virtually, we can help. During your video visit, your provider will assess your child and refer you to an in-person visit if necessary. If our provider determines that you need immediate in-person care, you will not be charged for your video visit.

*Lab Test Required for Antibiotics

If you believe your child needs antibiotics, a Cincinnati Children’s lab test is required. We will order tests for step, COVID, flu and urinalysis. If you believe your child needs other lab tests, please contact your primary care provider or be seen in person. Learn why antibiotics aren't always the answer

Conditions We Can't Treat

Virtual urgent care visits are meant to evaluate minor injuries and illnesses. If your child has a serious or life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the emergency department immediately. Here are some specific conditions we cannot treat:

  • Abdominal Pain
  • Broken Bones
  • Bronchitis
  • Chronic Headaches or Migraines
  • Concerns for Sexually Transmitted Infections
  • Ear Infections (unless you have a TytoCare device)
  • Fever in Newborns and Children Under Age 2
  • Injury Involving the Neck or Back
  • Loss of Consciousness
  • Mental Health Situations (Please call 513-636-4124 for mental health concerns.)
  • Pneumonia
  • Shortness of Breath or Difficulty Breathing
  • Uncontrolled Bleeding
  • We're also unable to order blood tests or provide referrals to subspecialists.
