Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center to Open Outpatient Location in Green Township

Tuesday, July 05, 2011

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center announced today that it has purchased land to build an outpatient pediatric facility in the western Cincinnati area. The Cincinnati Children’s Green Township facility will feature pediatric subspecialty clinics, therapies, urgent care, and laboratory and radiology services.

The 60,000 plus square-foot facility will be built on 8.3 acres of land that is located off Harrison Ave., 1.9 miles south of the I-74 exit 11 (Harrison-Rybolt Road).
The announcement follows a thorough internal and external analysis of data to determine the scope of services to be provided at the new facility. This analysis included interviews with community physicians and families, a review of the area's demographics and an analysis of where families currently go for pediatric care in the Western Cincinnati area.

Among the benefits of this new outpatient facility for families and physicians will be to:

  • Serve many families closer to where they live
  • Improve access to pediatric subspecialty clinics. Since many families in the Western Cincinnati area currently come to the Cincinnati Children's Burnet Avenue campus for subspecialty clinics and radiology services, the new facility will help to decompress operations at the main hospital, thereby decreasing wait times and improving scheduling throughout the medical center.

Maura Moran, Assistant Vice President, Real Estate, Cincinnati Children’s says that the construction of the Green Township facility is a collaborative effort among many organizations.

“Children's has selected the Cincinnati office of Turner Construction, along with the Covington office of its architecture and design partner, Moody Nolan, to lead this new building project.” “Both firms offer extensive healthcare experience, and Moody Nolan is the nation's largest African-American owned and operated architecture firm,” says Moran.

She went on to explain that over the next coming weeks and months, leaders from Cincinnati Children's will be working with Green Township officials to attain proper building approvals and permits.

Construction on the new building will begin by October 1, 2011. The building will open in early 2013. Cincinnati Children’s currently has 10 outpatient locations.
